Following my last post, I looked into interchangeable metal tips for my Knit Picks (Knit Pro in the UK) circulars. I considered investing in a set of Addi interchangeables but decided against these based on price. Besides, other than a few cables going awry, I'm happy with what I've got and (I'm not excusing their poor performance but) they have been subjected to 5 years of rather rigorous use.
Anyway, last Friday I ordered 3 tips from meadow yarn. I had the option of 'standard' or 'special' metal tips and went with 'special'. Because I'm worth it :) and it wasn't a size I'd heard of. The needle tips arrived today and I was surprised by the difference between the old and new i.e. standard and special!
The specials are dinky little things! I haven't used them yet so can't report on performance. But I'm keeping the 'standard' size handy in case the special ones and I don't get along.
And what am I using these needles for, you wonder. Why, my summer cardigan of course!
I'm working up Peasy.
And it's shaping up to be one zesty pea. I dunno if I will be done in time to wear it to Knit Nation but that remains my aim.

I have the shorty tips in the wood and much prefer them to the longer ones. Off to peruse the site now as I broke my 3mm and want to replace it with metal
ReplyDeleteI've always wondered how well the tips work--be sure to report back!
ReplyDeleteLike that Peasy pattern. I knitted the Shalom Cardigan and really liked it, too; they are similar patterns.
ReplyDeleteI haven't gotten on the interchangeable bandwagon ... yet. :)
ReplyDeleteLove that peasy you're working up, though. Great color, and I love how the cardi seems to work for everyone.
I had no idea there were new tips! Fancy. I should look into those, more to satisfy my curiosity than anything else ;)
ReplyDeletePeasy is very PEA-ish :D
I've never seen the new tips. I do love my Knit Picks interchangeables, though, so I'm sure you'll get along with these ones.
ReplyDeleteInteresting to read, I only have Spectra and Harmony ones but I've been tempted by the metal tips too!
ReplyDeleteI hope your cardi goes easy-peasy and quick ;o)
I had the metal ones to start with, but switched to the wood ones (which I then lost!! A whole set! And replaced as I love them so much,) still use mainly wood but metal ones sometimes
ReplyDeleteOooh, I'm loving the color on Peasy. Your new blog setup looks great too!
